Can I assign my trademark to another person/business?

Yes, you can assign your trademark to another person or business.

Assigning a Trade Mark means transferring ownership from one party to another.

The party who is transferring ownership is referred to Assignor and the new owner is referred to as the Assignee.

The assignment can be in connection to the goodwill of the business or not.

Goodwill is an intangible asset that arises when one company purchases another for a premium value. The value of a company’s brand name, solid customer base, good customer relations, good employee relations and any patents or proprietary technology represent goodwill.

An assignment occurs when the Trade Mark owner assigns the ownership in all of the goods and/or services for which the Trade Mark is registered to the new owner.
